The official website of Brazil’s Ministry of Environment (ambiente.gov.br) was hacked by Anonymous, the hacktivists managing to obtain and leak information from their servers, including some member login credentials.

The Anonymous hacktivist group just revealed its intentions of attacking the Brazilian government for endangering the indigenous Kayapo community with the build of a giant dam and a power plant on the Xingu river, but they didn’t wait long for their first operation.

The Pastebin document that announces the success of OpAmaZonaSave, part of Operation Green Rights, also hosts a flyer and a press release in which they highlight, again, the reasons for the cyberattack.

“We have strong intentions to protect indigenous peoples’ rights to reject the invasion of hydropower. ENEL, Endesa-hydroaysen, Norte Energy: the development you are working for would destroy native ethnic groups in South America,” the hackers state.
