A few days ago, a video revealed to the world that the famous LulzSec collective may reborn from its ashes on April 1. As it turns out they couldn’t wait until then and have already made a victim.

Their first target was MilitarySingles.com, an online dating service for soldiers, a site from which they leaked around 170,000 account details. The data dump contains email addresses, names, usernames, password hashes and other details.

Representatives of ESingles Inc, the company that manages the social network, told DataBreaches that they are aware of the hackers claims and are currently investigating the matter.

“We at ESingles Inc. are aware of the claim that someone has hacked MilitarySingles.com and are currently investigating the situation. At this time there is no actual evidence that MilitarySingles.com was hacked and it is possible that the Tweet from Operation Digiturk is simply a false claim,” the administrator of MilitarySingles.com said.

“We do however take the security and privacy of our members very seriously and will therefore treat this claim as if it were real and proceed with the required security steps in order to ensure the website and its database is secure.”

While the admins of MilitarySingles state that it may be a false claim, the published data tends to prove otherwise. Many of the email addresses seem to legitimately belong to the site’s customers.

Furthermore, after seeing the administrator’s statement, LulzSec hackers defaced a page of the site to demonstrate how easily it could be breached.

“Stupid Administrator ‘There is no evidence militarysingles is hacked’ Well guess what? [link to defaced page]” hackers wrote on the LulzSec Reborn Twitter account.

Users of MilitarySingles.com are advised to immediately change their passwords to both their social media and their email accounts to ensure the safety of their assets.
