Ever since Indonesian hacktivists launched attacks against a large number of Australian commercial websites in protest against Australia’s spying on Indonesia, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this topic.

After the commercial sites were defaced, Anonymous Australia urged Anonymous Indonesia to start focusing on government websites instead. Indonesians took the advice and disrupted the site of ASIS.

However, a couple days later, hackers claiming to be Indonesians once again targeted commercial Australian websites. This was followed by an “ultimatum” from Anonymous Australia.

But the hacktivists say they don’t want to start a cyber war with their fellow hacktivists. Furthermore, they claim they don’t have anything to do with the recent attacks on Indonesian websites.

“The Indonesian media and hackers have been trying to start a civil war between the two spectrum,” the Australian faction of the hacktivist movement stated.

“Today, as Anonymous Australia, we are here today to deny any claim that says Australia has attacked Indonesia. We do not want to war. We only wish to join together and expose our governments, not harm each other.”
