Deborah Nicholson, Membership Coordinator for the Free Software Foundation, announced yesterday the date and location for the exciting annual FSF associate member meeting, also known as the LibrePlanet event. The meeting is set to start on Saturday, March 21st, ending the next day, on the 22nd. The event will take place in the Harvard Science Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The LibrePlanet event is expected to adopt an Open Space style (in which all those who participate can intervene and address complex or controversial topics), hoping this will allow a quicker progress in engineering for Free Network Services and High Priority Software Projects.

There is a conference fee for those who are not FSF associate members, but that's only set to cover breakfast and lunch for the two days.

The schedule for the LibrePlanet meeting is:

Saturday:

· 9:30 - 17:00 - Some of the keynotes will address high priority free software projects, freedom for network services, the LibrePlanet Activism Network and software patents · 18:00 - 21:00 - The LibrePlanet Party

Sunday:

· 9:30-17:00 - Other keynotes and the Open Space-style conference

Deborah Nicholson also hinted at how the LibrePlanet event would work:  "This will be a working conference, so please bring a laptop. Participation is not limited to coders and activists; we'll also need folks who can do visual design, write and edit text, and are willing to test-drive stuff or percolate ideas. Basically, everyone!"

Among others, some members of the autonomo.us group will attend the conference, participating in working groups, giving speeches or just inspiring others to talk: Evan Prodromou, Benjamin Mako Hill, Henri Poole, Bradley Kuhn, and Mike Linksvayer. "With all of these hackers and activists together, we hope not only to hammer out some answers, but to also progress the software needed to turn that language into usable reality.", said Deborah Nicholson.

Given the limited space, all those who wish to participate are to confirm their presence until March 2. More information can be found by accessing the FSF website.
