Ubisoft is keen on expanding its player base and introducing a bigger number of casual gamers to more complex titles. The latest initiative from the French publisher is to bring the city building and management series published under the Anno brand to the Nintendo gaming platforms. The series is set to arrive on both the Wii and the DS this summer with a title called Anno: Create a New World.

The developer of the game will be Keen Games. The title is set to focus on the exploration of new civilizations and the development of a smoothly working empire. The plot is announced around King George and his kingdom, which is affected by serious drought and lack of food. The problem can be solved either by conquering new territories or by exploring and settling new lands in the south region of the Kingdom. William, one of the king’s sons, is chosen to lead the new fiefdom and he discovers a new society.

John Parkes, who is the marketing director EMEA at Ubisoft, stated that “Anno: Create a New World allows gamers to take the civilization building experience to the next level of fun and interactivity. We’re pleased to be bringing the brand new, uniquely designed game to the Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ for the first time.”

The game will offer players a lot of city management, the player being in charge of creating the infrastructure needed to get resources, convert them into goods, while also providing a beautiful city for the citizens. There's no conflict in Anno: Create a New World and whole families can join in the fun, as the interface has supposedly been adapted in order to make all the in game action intuitive.

Anno: Create a New World should be released alongside Anno 1404, which is set to be developed by Related Design.
