A while back, Jessica Biel said in an interview that she desperately wanted to play Catwoman in Chris Nolan's upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises,” even adding that this wasn't the only role she lost. Anne Hathaway, who has landed the iconic part, is said to be furious about Jessica's comment.

In the interview, Biel talked about her biggest regrets so far in her career and named two parts she auditioned for but which went to Hathaway instead.

By saying these things publicly, Anne believes, Jessica is trying to make it sound as if she's competing with Anne, which is hardly the case, the National Enquirer writes in its latest print issue (story via here).

It's not that Anna has such a poor opinion of Jessica, but she does think she's not really an actress but more of a celebrity, mostly thanks to her role on the hit TV show “7th Heaven.”

Comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges, Anne thinks.

“The comparison infuriated Anne, and she got word back to Jessica to 'quit complaining' and accept that she’s 'not in the same league when it comes to acting,' divulged an insider,” the tab writes.

“In truth, Anne feels she’s a true leading lady who has been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes, while Jessica’s movie career doesn’t even compare,” the spy says.

“In her opinion, Jessica is known for her TV role on 7th Heaven and blockbuster-type movies like The A-Team that show a limited acting range. And not only does Anne feel she’s superior on-screen, she also believes that Jessica showed a lack of professionalism by even making the comparison in the first place!” the insider further says.

Biel's motive in putting her name in the same sentence as Hathaway's could have been that of making it sound as if she and Anne are always neck and neck in casting auditions.

“She sees Jessica’s move as premeditated, designed to make casting directors place them on the same level – and possibly to coax them into hiring her over Anne, who makes more per film and is in greater demand,” the insider says.

Still, Hathaway isn't about to give up the fight just like that, not after she's worked so hard to take her career from girl next door ideal for rom-coms to leading lady stage.

“Anne let Jessica know that if she does another interview with a writing, casting director or director equating the two, she wants a face-to-face meeting. And everyone’s waiting for more fur to fly,” the source further says.
