14 DAY TRIAL // She’s engaged to “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer, one of the hottest male actors of the moment, but Anna Paquin has been staying safe in the closet until recently. In a video meant to promote equality, the 27-year-old star reveals her orientation, in what was a shock revelation for all those who know her, including friends and family, NineMSN informs.
The video features countless stars, all of them open about their orientation or their support for the elimination of discrimination. Sir Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Cindy Lauper and Clay Aiken are all included in the video, together with Paquin (see it below). Ongoing reports say that the release of the vid, which was shot earlier this year, came as a shock to all those who know the star, especially since she never even as much as hinted about it.
“Paquin, 27, made the revelation in a video recording for the True Colours Fund, an organization which campaigns for equal rights regardless of [orientation], US gossip websites report,” NineMSN says. In it, Paquin confirms she’s bi and she “give[s] a damn.” “The statement is a reference to the title of the campaign, ‘Give A Damn,’ which has been endorsed by other celebrities including Elton John and Cynthia Nixon,” the same media outlet informs.
“Paquin, who shot to fame as a child star in the 1993 film The Piano, is said to have stunned friends and co-stars with the unexpected disclosure. The Canada-born, New Zealand-raised actress is currently engaged to actor Stephen Moyer, her co-star in the popular vampire TV show True Blood. Paquin said in a recent interview that she was surprised to have fallen for Moyer. ‘Put it this way, I don’t think anyone knew before we did,’ she said. ‘It wasn’t something we saw happening,’ she said,” NineMSN further says.
Anna Paquin is the second celebrity to come out this week, though in her case, the disclosure was a total surprise, as opposed to that of Ricky Martin, who made it in a statement on his website. The other day, though, rumors were starting to build up that Martin did not actually come out on his own, having been pushed into it either by his current boyfriend or the paparazzi.
