Google TV's fate is undecided, but Google is not giving up. The latest update brought some major new features to the platform and finally enabled developers to create applications for it.

There aren't that many apps available for Google TV at this stage, but their number is slowly growing.

To make sure that the people that did buy a Google TV device learn more about apps, especially if they may not have used their box in a while, Google is highlighting some of the third-party apps available now.

One such app is Crunchyroll, from the service with the same name, an app that seems a great fit for Google TV. It enables users to find and watch all manner of Japanese anime titles and even some Asian dramas.

"For all the anime and Asian drama fans out there, our Crunchyroll app has been optimized for the TV. The app allows both free and premium members to watch their favorite shows on big screens powered by Google TV," Crunchyroll wrote in a guest post on Google TV's blog.

"Crunchyroll has hundreds of Japanese anime titles and Asian dramas, across a myriad of genres – from shonen to shojo; fantasy to slice-of-life drama. The app also has simulcast titles  for the latest season (available usually an hour after first broadcast in Japan)," it boasted.

This particular app is great for Google TV for obvious reasons, it centers on video streaming. Given that one of the big complaints over Google TV has been the lack of content, apps like this can only help.

This is especially true for niche audiences that may have trouble finding the content they love on TV or even online. An app that has your favorite shows only seconds away is a much better alternative to scouring the web for scattered episodes.
