One of them is Mitik, the orphaned walrus calf rescued not very long ago

As previously reported, hurricane Sandy's storm surges caused the New York Aquarium to flood.

Several American citizens are now quite concerned about what will happen to the animals residing at this marine park.

More so since one of them is Mitik, an orphaned walrus calf that caused quite a stir when it was first rescued.

Although the staff at this marine wild park hope that it will not take long before this facility will once again be up and running, the possibility of relocating the animals here at other aquariums has also been considered.

Only yesterday, one of the Wildlife Conservation Society's leaders, Jim Breheny, made a case of how, “We have a short window of time to get systems re-established,” Animal Tracks reports.

However, “If this cannot be accomplished in this critical period, we will temporarily relocate the collection to other aquariums in the region.”

Hopefully, more information on this topic will soon be made available to the general public.
