A mob has attacked a suspected child abuser in Colorado, throwing rocks at him and subduing him before calling police.

According to the Chieftain, a local organization tracked down a man matching the description of a suspect in two separate child abuse cases.

The Inquisitr details that the Members of the American Indian Movement in the small town of Pueblo violently attacked the 54-year-old man, pelting him with rocks and even punching him.

Alex Pacheco, a member of the group, described hunting down the alleged predator in the proximity of Mitchell Park.

"I started running after him and finally caught up to him at about Eighth and Troy. [...] There was a group of about five or six of us and we kept him there until police arrived," Pacheco says.

The mobbing has been prompted by a lack of police involvement in making child abuse incidents known to the community, which would warn parents about a possible predator in the area. The group decided to take matters into their own hands.

“We went through the right channels in contacting the police but there hasn’t been much response.

“We can’t wait around any longer without doing something. These are children that this man is after and we can’t let any more children get hurt by him,” Pacheco explains.

After catching the suspect on the corner of 11th Street and Monument Avenue, the mob called law enforcement.

Sgt. Eric Gonzales has stated that two people were detained, one of whom was the suspect while the other was a member of the vigilante formation.

The alleged predator was let go out of lack of evidence against him. Police took AIM's Radolpho Balles in custody for interfering with police business, but also released him later that day.
