Rovio is sling-shooting a new update at Angry Birds fans with 15 new levels in the Mine and Dine episode, more collectible jewels, as well as some fixes for loading times on some devices.

One of the most popular tiles in the iTunes App Store, Angry Birds has been downloaded by millions of iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users worldwide.

There are three main editions of the game - Angry Birds; Angry Birds Seasons; and a bonus game - Angry Birds Rio - featuring two rare macaws who are the stars of the Fox motion picture, Rio.

The main Angry Birds branch is now featuring the Mine and Dine episode, where “Mining and Dining with the burrowing piggies continues!”, according to the developers.

“With a bottomless appetite, the bad piggies have burrowed deep in underground caverns to hide the eggs they stole from you.”

“Use the landscape and geology to your advantage to chase the pigs out of their hiding holes, gather rare gems, and retrieve the eggs!”, says Rovio Mobile, the Finnish development studio behind the immensely popular puzzle game.

According to the iTunes App Store description, new features in Angry Birds version 1.6.2 include:

- 15 new levels for the Mine and Dine episode! - Find more collectible jewels! - Problems with loading times when starting Angry Birds? We fixed ’em! - Mighty Eagle still in business: Buy once, unlimited use!

Rovio also recently refreshed Angry Birds Seasons with a Summer update containing 30 additional levels and the usual goodies.

According to the changelog, Angry Birds Seasons version 1.5.0, players get “30 Jam-packed new levels” (one per day for a month), a sunny summer theme, and summer greeting cards to send to their friends.
