The most popular game in the world is coming to the most popular platform in the world. Yes, Angry Birds is coming to Facebook, on Valentine’s Day no less. Considering that Angry Birds pretty much runs on everything these days, including the oldest platform of them all, the 'real world,' thanks to all the Angry Birds toys, it was about time the game leveraged the most viral gaming platform around.

Rumors started flying around again recently, but then Rovio, Angry Birds' maker, confirmed the move in a strange but appropriate way, via a Facebook event titled, what else, "Angry Birds coming to Facebook!"

"Squawk! Everyone's favorite furious fowl, Angry Birds, is coming to Facebook! Nothing says 'Happy Valentine's Day' like competitive pig-popping among friends!," the event's description read.

"Join in on the fun - mark this date on your calendars, and let's make this the biggest Facebook Event ever!," it added.

There's also a trailer of sorts for Facebook Angry Birds, the video below. Rovio hasn't really said anything else about the launch, whether there will be exclusive features or content and the likes.

Even if there is, it will still be the same old game underneath, it's unlikely that Rovio will come up with something original or at least different, given that it has greatly emphasized making Angry Birds look and feel the same regardless of where you play it, on your phone, on a tablet, in a browser, on your PC and so on.

That said, it could play more on the social aspects, make it collaborative, or at the very least enable friends to compete for score or bonuses. That seems to be what Rovio is saying in the Facebook announcement.

Angry Birds' Facebook page has almost 13.1 million likes and the number is steadily growing. This alone would guarantee some success of the Facebook version, even if Angry Birds wasn't a household name already.
