Angry Birds, the hugely successful mobile game made by Rovio, is set to further expand its area of influence onto Facebook.

Rovio is quite pleased with its Angry Birds mobile game, which managed to sell tens of millions of copies all over the world on the iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and Android platforms.

Now, after already seeing the title appear for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable as a 'minis' release at the beginning of the year, Rovio has announced that it wants to expand the Angry Birds experience onto other platforms.

The biggest one will be Facebook, as the social network has already proven to be a fertile ground for games and other such applications.

According to Rovio, Angry Birds for Facebook will be released in the near future and will bring many new features.

"There will be completely new aspects to it that just haven't been experienced on any other platform," the company said. "The pigs will have a more prominent role."

The last statement could hint at some sort of versus multiplayer or different modes of play, which would keep people hooked on the Angry Birds Facebook experience.

More spin-offs are also planned, with the developer saying that people could see things like driving or sports games with the angry birds and their pig enemies, as well as a TV series or even a movie at some point in time.

Until then, the regular Angry Birds experience will also reach other gaming platforms like the Nintendo 3DS, the Wii or the Xbox 360.

The game has surpassed over 30 million downloads on the Android mobile platform, on which it is distributed for free, being supported just by ads, and surpassed the 10 million mark on the iOS platform, on which it costs $1.

With such a hefty profit, you know Rovio will invest quite a lot of money so that the game will retain its addiction-inducing features when it appears on Facebook.
