14 DAY TRIAL // Amidst reports that Angelina Jolie has set out to make a name for herself as a serious director, her next film, “Unforgiven,” will reportedly also star one of the hottest heartthrobs of the past couple of years, Robert Pattinson.
Given Jolie’s history with Brad Pitt, with whom she got involved while working on “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” having her on the same set with Pattinson will undoubtedly generate a genuine pandemonium in the tabloids, Lainey Gossip says.
Right now, Pattinson’s involvement in the project has not yet been confirmed, but word in the industry has it (coming from Deadline Hollywood) that he’s tapped for the part of a vengeful son.
The plot of “Unforgiven” focuses on the story of a woman who spends 15 years in prison after being accused of murdering 2 policemen. She gets out determined to start afresh and leave everything behind.
In almost no time, she finds out that the past can – and does – come back to haunt you, as the sons of one of her victims come back for revenge. One of them is played by Pattinson.
“Yesterday Deadline Hollywood came out with a report that GK Films is developing a project for Angelina Jolie, based on a 2009 BBC miniseries called Unforgiven,” Lainey Gossip writes.
“There’s speculation in the wind that Robert Pattinson has been tapped for this project (I would assume as one of the vengeful sons). He had a meeting late last year with Angelina’s lawyer, Robert Offer – and a ‘celebratory’ dinner, too – so his recent trip to see Salt with his agent is suddenly rife with new possibility,” the same e-zine writes.
Should that be the case, Pattinson would be making a very smart career move if he accepted the offer because it could make of him a bona fide star, an actor in the real sense and not just a heartthrob.
“Pattinson needs a non-romantic role. He needs something that has nothing to do with how pretty he is and would actively work against his appeal. As Fight Club turned Brad Pitt from pretty boy to man’s man, so could a violent, explosive role transform Pattinson,” the same source says.
Right now, though, not even Angelina is committed to the project, and she won’t be so until she has the script in her hand, as she does with every other film offer that comes her way.
With all, she’s reportedly very interested in it, and chances are she’ll take the offer. Hopefully, so will Pattinson.
