This rumor has been going around for some time now, but we finally have confirmation from her own mouth: Angelina Jolie plans to give up on acting and focus her energies elsewhere. At the moment, it's looking like she has her eyes set on the director's chair after she's already done a couple of movies.

In a recent interview with DuJour Magazine, the recently Damed Angelina Jolie (though it's an honorary title so you don't have to call her Dame), confessed that she plans to leave acting in front of the camera for directing behind it.

Angelina has taken a big liking to directing movies, thinks about quitting acting altogether

The statement was made while discussing her latest directorial project, “Unbroken,” a story of the former Olympic runner Louie Zamperini that follows his adventures as he enlists for service during WWII and become a POW.

Previous rumors, fueled by Angelina herself, had her also running for office, as many noted that her extensive charity work and her role with the UN could make her a formidable candidate in politics. However, Jolie seems to have other plans.

Jolie confesses that she never really liked acting anyway

“I've never been comfortable as an actor,” she tells the publication while adding that she enjoys directing far more. “I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier.”

At the moment, she's still working on her style, but she points out that “if all goes to plan,” she will “absolutely” give up acting entirely.

That means that you'd better go watch “By the Sea” in the cinemas as soon as it comes out, because it might very well be your last chance to see her perform on screen. The movie is being filmed in Malta and is scheduled to finish by the end of November.

The movie is a love story, written, directed and starring Angelina Jolie and it also features her husband Brad Pitt, as well as their children in some of the secondary roles. It's the story of a French dancer who falls in love with an American writer in a French city by the sea.

The production was in full swing when the couple flew out to France and wed in secret, in a small ceremony that involved all of their family and that took the world completely by surprise when the official announcement was made. Brad called the following weeks when they went straight back to work “a dysfunctional honeymoon.”
