14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian and Kanye West call themselves the “first family of fashion” and the rapper could probably talk for hours on end about how Kim is the biggest, most influential, and beautiful female celebrity of our time.
Kim might be very famous and rich and successful and with a fanbase of millions, but one thing she’s definitely not is A-list. She was hoping she could change that while in Australia promoting her latest fragrance: because that’s when Angelina Jolie was also in the country, to promote and attend the premiere of her film “Unbroken.”
Kim wanted to share the spotlight with Jolie
So Kim proceeded to secure her tickets for the film’s premiere and to get her people to reach out to Jolie’s, to see if they could arrange that they crossed paths on the red carpet, possibly even pose for photos, sources close to the reality star reveal for NineMSN’s The Fix.
Admittedly, Kim’s plan was to do all she could to get in the same shot with Angelina, preferably side by side, because that would have helped her on her way to becoming A-list. If husband Brad Pitt could have gotten in the picture, it would have been even better.
Rubbing shoulders with someone like Jolie is whatever validation you need in showbiz, because she’s famously selective about the people she hangs out with, even if only for a few minutes, on a red carpet.
Even if Kim didn’t secure the photo-op, the mere fact that she was in attendance would have meant that Jolie and Pitt “supported” her, or maybe even that they had personally invited her there.
Kim got shut down, the hard way
Even for a reality star like Kim Kardashian, the cruel reality hits like a sack of bricks sometimes. As per the same report, Jolie “told Kim to buzz off” and personally “barred” her from attending the film premiere. Kim was not granted tickets, let alone the permission to walk the red carpet and pose for pics with Angelina and Brad.
Because Kim is controversial and cheap (in the sense of being perceived as cheap in everything she does, from the reality show to her fashion line and makeup products), Angelina decided it would be best for her Oscar chances if she wasn’t there at all.
The report also notes that she feared Kim would try and make the event all about herself, steal the thunder from the film. “Unbroken” is a passion project for Jolie, a film that holds a deep meaning to her because she considered Louis Zamperini, whose story it tells, a personal role model.
As it happens, “Unbroken” is also getting a lot of Oscar buzz, so Jolie is thinking ahead, of the campaign that will probably start soon, not just for herself, but also for Japanese star Miyavi, who is rumored to be a valid contender for Best Supporting Actor.
“The last thing Angie needs is a reality star walking the red carpet at her premiere. Kim was crushed,” says a source.
