14 DAY TRIAL // Angelina Jolie came out to support her beau at the Independent Spirit Awards 2014: “12 Years a Slave,” produced by Brad Pitt, is one of the biggest players in this year’s awards season race. While on the scene, they also teased (or deflected, depends on how you look at it) questions about their upcoming nuptials.
Brad and Angelina have been together for years, saying several times they would only get married when everyone else could as well. They were obviously referring to gay marriage, which has become legal in many US states so, when they got engaged in 2012, everyone assumed a wedding was on the way.
If that’s the case, they’re not saying just yet.
Above is a video of the two stars leaving the awards gala. They’re wearing matching all-black outfits and they seem to be in the best mood ever. Asked by the awaiting paparazzi or fans about the wedding date, Angelina just smiles and says “I can’t.”
Minutes later, Brad too does the rounds and, predictably, he’s asked the same question. He doesn’t say anything though, just places his finger to his lips as if saying, “it’s a secret.” Or “sssh, be quiet!” Again, it’s a matter of perspective.
If you think about this logically, it would make no sense for these two to ever talk about their wedding plans. Angelina and Brad are one of the most media-shy couples in showbiz for a very good reason, namely that they’re constantly hounded by the paparazzi and the tabloids.
Should they make the mistake of giving out a timeframe for the wedding or a location, no matter how vague, they would have to deal with the reality of having their most special day ruined by a fleet of paparazzi helicopters, trespassers and whatnot.
The difference between Jolie and Pitt on one hand and celebrities like Kim Kardashian on the other is that they don’t make a living off the media attention so, by all accounts, they don’t want it or, at least, not for things they’d rather they kept private.
If paparazzi one day stopped stalking Kim Kardashian, her entire business empire would probably crumble to pieces. If they did the same for the Brangelina couple, they would probably be at their happiest.
So, don’t expect these two to announce a wedding date, because that would be pointless. Chances are they will get married in secret and only confirm it afterwards, if that. That is, if they haven’t gotten hitched in secret already.
