Solid state drives are powerful enough on their own already, but Angelbird decided to see them working together, so it created the Wings PCIe x4 card, though availability has not yet been reached.

Users probably don't need an update on just why solid state drives are so popular, even if they aren't exactly common.

After all, with speeds that leave any hard drive in the dust, it was only a matter of time (short time, it turns out) before they began to supplant them.

Items like the SATA 6.0 Gbps drives from ADATA, some of which are even trying to be budget-friendly, made sure of that.

Nonetheless, the general prices aren't exactly flattering, for the most part, so companies sometimes have to get inventive in order to fuel sales.

Angelbird figured it may as well try to offer a reason for someone to buy more than one of these things, and further speed benefits was the logical goal.

As such, the company created the Wings PCI Express x4 RAID card, which can combine up to four SSDs.

The outfit intends for it to be utilized along with the Crest SSD cartridge (of 60/120 GB), but this is not mandatory.

Once they are hooked up, the four 2.5-inch storage units should be able to show off transfer speeds of up to 800 MB/s when reading and 750 MB/s when writing.

The SATA 3.0 Gbps connectivity technology is used by the card, along with 16 GB or 32 GB of built-in NAND.

Users will have to be willing to pay €201.76 and €241.53, respectively, to get either one, or just €161.02, if they want a card without on-board NAND.

As for the aforementioned Crest, the prices are €115.43 for the 60 GB and €171.69 for the 120 GB, as made more than clear on the official product and order page.
