There was an amazing lack of details upon the making of this revelation

Now that the first ARM Cortex-A57 64-bit processor has been taped out, we can look forward to laptops based on the ARMv8 64-bit capable architecture.

There hasn't been any official word on the likelihood, or even the mere possibility, of such a device coming out. Not recently anyway.

Fortunately, the rumor mill doesn't sleep. Digitimes has published a small report in which it says that Android-based notebooks (nicknamed Androidbooks) could show up in the third quarter of the year.

Google will presumably release them as an alternative to Chromebooks, which haven't been having an easy time.

We suspect that the success of Androidbooks will hinge on program and compatibility. Still, with this, ARM will definitely be able to say that it has entered the PC industry, which will be the culmination of decades' worth of R&D and marketing efforts.
