Android tablets powered by Bay Trail have been expected to make an appearance

Last year Intel talked about expanding its reach over the slate market and announced it would be adding its Bay Trail chips to Android tablets soon.

So far we haven’t seen such models appear in the wild (except maybe for the dual OS Ramos i10 Pro), but now we have an estimated time frame for when this is supposed to happen.

Speaking during the quarterly earnings conference call with analysts, CEO Brian Krzanich announced that the first models would arrive somewhere in Q2 2014 (via TabletsMagazine).

Android Bay Trail devices were notably absent at CES 2014, but with a little bit of luck we might end up seeing some models displayed at MWC in Barcelona this February.

Otherwise, Intel remains quite concerned with the optimization of Android for x86 chips and just last week the tech giant announced to have completed the development a 64-bit version of Android 4.4 KitKat

When the Android tablets with Bay Trail finally arrive, they are expected to come featuring lower prices compared to those running Haswell chip architecture.
