The time when Android barely showed up only in phones is long past

Set-top boxes usually have whatever software their makers decide to use, most of the time made by their own research teams, but there seems to be a movement towards standardization nowadays.

Just like ARM chips and x86 processors are being used pretty much everywhere now, operating systems are branching out.

Windows is still mostly relegated to PCs, but the Android OS from Google is even being used in set-top boxes now, according to a report.

Some China-based vendors are selling Android TV set-top boxes, many of which were shown at the 2013 China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components (it took place in Hong Kong during April 12-15).

Oddly enough, many vendors are mimicking the Windows 8 interface, some even integrating motion sensors and HDDs of 1 TB.
