Wondering when your Meizu device will be getting Lollipop?

Meizu is one of the Chinese smartphone makers that have been building a solid name for themselves by virtue of their products.

You might probably remember that the company’s MX4 flagship has been named by AnTuTu the most powerful smartphone of 2014.

The device maker is also offering the Meizu MX4 Pro, a model that comes with slightly better specifications, pretty much in the veil of the Xiaomi Mi Note and Mi Note Pro.

While these phones feature some of the most advanced hardware available on the market, owners of the MX4 and MX4 Pro have been stuck with a version of Flyme 4.0, which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Naturally, users have been wondering when Meizu will start offering the sweet Lollipop treatment to its host of flagships. Well, the good news is that the wait shouldn’t be a long one.

Android 5.0 Lollipop coming soon to a host of Meizu phones

The folks over at Italian HD Blog have managed to dig out Meizu’s purported Lollipop update map for some of its devices. According to the document, the Meizu MX4 Pro should receive Google’s latest software by the end of the month.

The Meizu MX4 should also get a bump up software-wise later in April. The company is apparently not forgetting its older models, so the MX2 and MX3 are expected to get the latest version of Android before the end of May. It’s quite surprising that the MX2 is getting the new update, considering it’s a 2012 phone, so kudos to Meizu.

But the best part is that the device maker is not looking to update only its flagship models but will also push out Android 5.0 for its super affordable phone, the Meizu M1, and maybe for the Meizu M1 Note as well (aka Blue Charm Note, although the name is not clearly mentioned in the document) starting this summer.

This is one piece of encouraging news for those of you who have purchased a Meizu handset. However, there’s no word on whether the Chinese phone maker has plans to offer the Android 5.1 update, which Google has just recently rolled out.

Granted, the new build hasn’t been out long and is currently offered only on the Nexus lineup, although Motorola announced it would push the new build on the second-generation Moto X very soon.
