14 DAY TRIAL // In case you’re wondering why Google pulled the plug on Nexus 6 and delayed the release of the smartphone until next week, then read further as we have info that could shed some light on the matter.
The only device that has been launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system onboard is the Nexus 9 tablet, but that’s an exception and Nexus 6 won’t be released until next week at least.
This means that the highly-anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the eligible Nexus device will be delayed until Google’s flagship smartphone goes on sale.
According to some sources close to the matter, the OTA update for Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 won’t be rolled out until November 12, which coincides with the release of Nexus 6 on the market.
AndroidPolice’s Artem Russakovskii said he got word from a tipster that “the first OTAs got delayed due to some outstanding bugs.” He also said that they were currently scheduled for release on November 12.
Although the new roll-out date is subject to change, there’s a high chance that Google will indeed start pushing Android 5.0 Lollipop to Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones next week. If not for the Nexus 4, the Nexus 5 will sure be the first to receive the update next week in case Google decides to kick off the roll-out.
The Lollipop OTA update was originally scheduled for November 3
Unfortunately, there are no details on the bugs that prevented Google from launching Nexus 6 and Android 5.0 Lollipop on November 3, though they must be important enough to justify the delay.
We originally thought that Google would start pushing Android 5.0 Lollipop to most Nexus devices around the same day Nexus 6 would go on sale.
However, given that the smartphone has now been delayed for several days, the Lollipop update is MIA as well. Keep in mind that the information comes from anonymous sources, so it’s hard to tell whether or not they got the new release date right.
In the same piece of news, Google published the Android 5.0 Lollipop factory image for the Nexus 9 tablet earlier today, but that doesn’t help owners of older Nexus devices at all.
All in all, we only have to wait one more week for the supposed Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update for Nexus 4 and 5, so here is hoping the leaked November 12 release date is accurate. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any additional info on the matter, so stay tuned.
