If you have been wanting to install an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based custom ROM on your handset but for some reason or another CyanogenMod 12 (or other options) is not really your thing, we have an option here that might appeal to your senses.

One of the biggest rivals of CynaogenMod out there is the Paranoid Android team which offers pure AOSP-based ROMs.

Paranoid Android ROM based on Android 5.0.2 now out

And the latest version which is based on Android 5.0.2 has just been made available for a number of devices including the OnePlus One, Oppo Find 5, Find 7, Find 7s, N1, Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013), Galaxy Nexus (both Verizon and Sprint versions) plus the Nexus 10.

For the time being, these are the only devices that are getting the new Paranoid Android version, but who’s to say more won’t be added to the rooster soon enough.

Anyway, what do you expect to find with this new release? The Paranoid Android team writes that they have “added some goodies to improve AOSP’s state,” while also adding some “tiny and useful additions” to the whole Android Lollipop sweetness.

What you can expect to find

Let’s take a tour and see what’s new. For starters, the new version adds improvements to Heads Up, such as like the option to disable heads up interruptions completely plus Quick Unlock.

The Power Menu got an extension and the volume panel now gets animated in a more material-like fashion.

With the new Paranoid Android, users will be able to skip songs using volume buttons even when the device is locked. The team is also throwing in CynaogenMod‘s theme engine, in case you like to have a sprinkle of that onboard too.

The novelties aren't all that drastic, as the team behind Paranoid Android is still trying to re-think the way they will build upon the AOSP Lollipop base.

So you can expect to see lots of improvements from Paranoid Android in the near future.
