Contacts will be displayed as cards, moving away from the traditional list

Google has been rumored not long ago to plan the release of an updated dialer application for its Android users, and it seems that those who will update to Android 4.4.3 will be able to take advantage of the feature.

We already had the chance to take a look at some of the features that Google might include in the aforementioned dialer app, and a new set of leaked images are now available courtesy of XDA-Developers, offering a better look at said redesign.

Apparently, Android 4.4.3 KitKat will bring along a dialer application with contacts arranged in a series of cards with photos and the like, instead of the list that is currently present on Android devices out there.

As Android Police notes, the new application appears to mark a major departure from the current dialer looks.

The new dialer application will show a contact’s photo when one is available. When no photo can be displayed, the app will show instead a colored block with the contact’s first initial.

The dialer still features a search box, which is present at the top of the screen, just as before. Moreover, the screenshot shows a blue action bar at the bottom of the screen.

Previously, the dialer app was said to feature a blue action bar at the top, and screenshots that allegedly proved that were also leaked online, so it remains to be seen what exactly Google has in store for us with this redesign.

The new screenshots were allegedly snapped on the Nexus 5 handset of a XDA-Developers Forum member’s friend, who might work at Google, considering the contacts that can be seen on their phone.

However, the app is said to be still under development, which suggests that Google could plan on making a series of changes to it before actually pushing it to users out there.

However, the redesign appears to fall in line with the recently spotted changes for other applications in the Android platform, which suggests that Google could be gearing up for a major UI refresh for the mobile OS.

Details on it were leaked online for several weeks now, suggesting that users would be able to take advantage of the redesign in Android 4.4.3 KitKat, yet no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.

However, assuming that the new OS version will become official in June at the I/O conference, more on the refresh will emerge soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
