We reported a few weeks ago that Motorola sent invitations for an Android 4.4.2 KitKat soak test for Sprint Moto X. The soak test kicked off a few days later, but Sprint users immediately reported the update is affected by some bugs, which is why it was quickly pulled by Motorola.

Last week, the soak test for Moto X commenced once again, this time without any issues. Motorola apparently addressed all the issues experienced by Sprint Moto X users in order for the update to arrive faster on their devices.

Speaking of which, Motorola has just confirmed the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now available for Moto X at Sprint. The information doesn’t come as a surprise, so those who own the Moto X and weren’t part of the soak test might want to check their smartphones for the upgrade.

According to Motorola, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Moto X brings some new features, improvements, as well as bug fixes.

The official changelog mentions the addition of a new feature that will allow Sprint Moto X owners to print documents and photos via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other hosted services such as Google Cloud Print and HP ePrinters.

Moto X owners will be able to print any Google Docs or Gmail documents using the new feature introduced within Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Furthermore, Motorola also confirmed that Moto X owners would benefit from improved battery life thanks to a few bugs this update fixed.

The previous version of KitKat contained some bugs that caused a certain number of users to experience shorter battery life, but these issues have been addressed in Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Last but not least, Motorola states that Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Moto X should fix a bug that could cause email services such as Microsoft Exchange to experience random delays in data syncing.

Keep in mind that Android 4.4.2 KitKat is now deployed OTA (over the air) in stages, which means not all Sprint Moto X devices will receive it at the same time. Make sure your phone’s battery is at least 50% charged and that it’s connected to a stable Wi-Fi network for faster download.

Sprint Moto X owners who have yet to be notified on Android 4.4.2 KitKat should manually check for 161.44.32.ghost_sprint.Sprint.en.US software update on their devices by going to Settings / About phone / System Updates / Download.

With the release of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Sprint Moto X, AT&T is now the last major carrier in the United States that has yet to roll out the upgrade.
