Good news for LG G2 owners living in the Nordic countries, as the South Korean handset maker has confirmed that the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now available for download.

The international rollout of the update kicked off last week, but it took LG several days to bring it in the Nordics. Esphoneblog reports that LG has just confirmed that G2 owners who have purchased their devices in one of the Nordic countries will be able to upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Keep in mind though that the update is not yet available OTA (over the air), instead you will have to download KitKat for G2 via LG support tool.

However, the South Korean company has confirmed that it will soon start seeding the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update OTA (over the air).

Among the most important changes included in this update there is the new improved user interface, which features lots of enhancements, like restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, improved closed captioning support, and stronger security.

LG has also confirmed that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update also brings an improved Knock One feature, which is said to increase it responsiveness. The battery efficiency has been improved as well. According to LG, the G2 now plays music more efficiently and supports the battery-saving location mode, thus extending battery life.

There’s also a new Printing in the Cloud feature, which allows users to print documents via Wi-Fi or a Bluetooth connection using Google Cloud Printer service.

Last but not least, Android 4.4.2 KitKat improves the smartphone’s processing speed by 17%. The web-browsing speed has been improved as well thanks to the Chromium engine.

Make sure your phone’s battery is at least 50% charged before attempting to upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Also, given the fact that the update is not yet available OTA (over the air), don’t try searching for the KitKat on the G2.

Instead, make sure you install the latest version of LG Mobile Support Tool and connect your G2 to the PC via USB cable. There’s a slight chance that the update will not show from the first try due to the fact that it’s deployed in stages, but you could try again later.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update does not erase any information from the LG G2 during upgrade, so there’s no need to back up any data. However, keep in mind that it might take at least 20 minutes for the update process to complete.
