Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is reportedly getting ready for the release of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its HTC One smartphone starting with January.

HTC has already confirmed plans to make the Android 4.4 KitKat update available for this smartphone in early 2014, and new reports suggest that it will actually provide users with the latest version of the mobile OS.

According to a recent tweet from HTC’s Director of Product Management Mo Versi, the Android 4.4.2 OS version will be delivered to HTC One devices in the United States, including those on various wireless carriers out there, gottabemobile notes.

No specific info on when the new platform version will start emerging on devices has been provided as of now, but chances are that it will all go down in January, as previously reported.

On top of that, a tweet from HTC leaker LLabTooFeR claims that the European version of HTC One is set to receive Android 4.4.2 directly as well.

At the moment, the upgrade is being pushed to the owners of HTC One Developer Edition devices, and HTC is expected to announce more info on its plans for other smartphone models in the near future.

The upcoming OS release should also provide HTC One owners with a taste of Sense 5.5 with enhancements to features such as HTC Zoe and BlinkFeed.

However, it appears that the Taiwanese vendor is also working on a new update for the UI, and that it might release it alongside Android 4.4.2.

The upcoming HTC M8 (aka One Two) smartphone is said to arrive with both software enhancements loaded on top right from the beginning, though no official confirmation on this has been provided as of now.

One way or the other, HTC One users should rest assured that a KitKat upgrade will be available for them as soon as the next month, with specific details on what it will include set to emerge as the release date approaches.
