It’s official, folks! Sony Mobile has just announced it has started rolling out the long-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for owners of the Xperia Tablet Z.

The update will arrive gradually across all countries in which the slate has been made available, so have a little patience.

The good news is that users updating to the new build will not only get to enjoy the standard set of features and enhancements for Android 4.3, but will be also be able to tap into some Sony-branded tweaks and improvements as well.

First of all, Android 4.3 will bring UI optimization and better Project Butter performance. Also, remember Sony introduced the Social Camera feat with the Xperia Z1? Well, now Tablet Z gets it too.

Some Sony-branded apps will be getting a refresh as well, namely Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small Apps, TrackID or Sony Select.

Users will notice some media apps have been enhanced as well (Album, WALKMAN and Movies) and Xperia Themes custom interfaces are now available for download.

Sony has also upped the bar for security standards and now allows restricted profiles to be set up on the tablet.
