Initially slated for a Q2 release, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Motorola RAZR and RAZR MAXX has been recently delayed for the third quarter of the year.

In fact, the availability of the upgrade in Q3 is just a guess as the company only stated that it’s unable to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich by the end of June and that additional details will be announced in the following weeks.

For those asking for information about the ICS upgrade for RAZR and RAZR MAXX, we have had a delay which means we’re unable to roll out in Q2 as planned.

We’re working through the changes that need to be made to the software to ensure you get the best experience from all the new features ICS will bring. We will update you when we have further details on a new roll out.”

However, Verizon customers who own the DROID RAZR and/or DROID RAZR MAXX have already received the update, which is currently rolling out in the US.

This time it seems that Europeans have been left out for a little longer, which makes sense if we take into consideration the fact that we’re talking about a US-based company that launches most of its high-end products through Verizon Wireless.

Anyway, it appears that Motorola made another step towards releasing the Android 4.0 ICS in Europe and announced an initial launch of the update in a few countries.

Motorola RAZR and RAZR MAXX owners in Europe will now start to share in the delight that is Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The upgrade is now rolling out to select users in Germany (retail), France (SFR) and Italy (retail and TIM) and will be available more broadly over the coming weeks.”

Even though the update is only available in three European countries, it will be released in additional regions pretty soon. Stay tuned for more info on the subject.
