A new Android 2.2 build is reportedly being delivered as an over the air update for Nexus One handsets out there. According to the latest reports around the web, the new build FRF83 seems to be the official Android 2.2 update that Google promised for Nexus One owners a while ago. Previous reports pointed towards an imminent arrival of the software update on the device, and it seems that things have already started to move.

The new Android 2.2 build FRF83 has started to be deployed to Nexus One over the air, and is meant for those who have the previously released build FRF50 installed on their handsets. Some of those who loaded the leaked build FRF72 on their devices, and had the Nexus One rooted, report issues with the installation of the new software update.

Those interested in installing the new build should wait for their Nexus One to inform them on when it is available. One can head to Settings > About phone > System updates on the device to check on the available software updates for the device, and then download and install it if available. However, the new Android 2.2 build FRF83 is also available for a manual download from Google via this link.

When compared to the previous build FRF72, the new solution is said to be almost identical. Even so, the leaked build was not the final version of Android 2.2 nor an official update, while the new one should be, especially since it is available straight from Google. At the same time, we should mention that the release of this new build coincides with an announcement regarding the release of the source code of Android 2.2 for Google's partners.

Following the availability of the official Android 2.2 update for Nexus One, more devices powered by Google's mobile platform should enjoy an operating system upgrade. However, the update would come from handset vendors and carriers, which means that we should wait for them to announce the move.
