CNN celebrates belated Dyngus Day, Cooper loses it on camera again

Anderson Cooper has said before that, when it comes to giggling uncontrollably, he's worse than a 13-year-old girl who's about to meet her idol Justin Bieber. Further proof of that, if more was needed, is below.

On the latest CNN RidicuList segment, which was dedicated to the Polish-American holiday Dyngus Day, Cooper had another severe case of the giggles, which literally rendered him nonfunctional for a whole minute or so.

You can see the whole video below, embedded at the end of the article.

Cooper is talking about Dyngus Day and how it's been celebrated this year in style in at least 3 major locations in the US, though he doesn't doubt revelers must have partied elsewhere as well.

At first, everything seems fine – that is, until Anderson tries to explain how Dyngus Day is celebrated in Buffalo, New York.

“The quirky little ritual includes boys sprinkling girls that they fancy with water and the girls striking back with a tap from a pussy willow branch,” he says.

The next second, he's choking with laughter – and we'll assume we don't have to explain why.

It's clear from the video that Cooper tries his best to contain himself, but repeatedly fails.

“I'm not gonna let you do this,” he even says at one point, covering his mouth and getting up from the chair, as if that could prevent the giggle fit.

In the end, though, he gives up and, mumbling something about the need to “let it all out,” he lets go and has his moment.

Because, while struggling to keep a straight face, Cooper can be heard saying “it's so stupid,” various groups assumed – and consequently took offense – that he was talking about the Dyngus Day.

The CNN talk show host took to his official Twitter page to explain: he just found his giggle fit stupid, not the thing he was reporting on.

“Just learned some groups believe I called Dyngus Day 'so stupid' in ridiculist. I didn't. I was saying my giggling fit was 'so stupid',” Cooper wrote.
