And So It Begins: Dell Opens Windows 10 Device Pre-Orders

Microsoft will launch the new Windows 10 operating system on July 29, and manufacturers across the world too get ready for this big moment with new devices, be they tablets, PCs, or laptops, to boost sales from day 1 of availability of the new software.

Dell, which is one of the long-term Microsoft partners, has announced that its Windows 10 devices are now up for pre-order in the United States, and what’s more, if you get one today, chances are that that it will ship on July 29, the same day when Microsoft introduces Windows 10.

Dell says that it worked closely with Microsoft to ensure that all its devices are up to the task and benefit from all Windows 10 goodies, including touch capabilities and Windows Hello, with the latter supported thanks to Intel’s RealSense 3D cameras.

Biometric authentication is a key feature of Windows 10 possible with Windows Hello, but new hardware, such as built-in cameras and fingerprint readers or iris scanners, is needed for this to work.

“Dell and Microsoft have worked hand-in-hand to develop Dell experiences that maximize the capabilities of Windows 10 for our customers. Thousands of engineering hours and unprecedented collaboration have led to what we believe is a great release imprinted with Dell feedback - or should we say, your feedback,” Dell explains.

Right now, you can choose from a total of 7 devices, four laptops and three desktops, all of which will ship with Windows 10 pre-installed on July 29 or 30.
