Google Talk is often regarded as a simple chat client but it is periodically updated with new features that bring the application closer to its rivals. After only one week since the last improvement, the Google team is now introducing a long-awaited and a much requested feature able to attract some new users to the instant messaging client. A lot of users were complaining that Google Talk is so simple that it doesn't have even the basic emoticons, a shortage of features that redirected the clients to other applications. However, Google finally debuted an exciting set of emoticons that are able to improve the chatting experience and bring more users for the program.

"Tired of expressing emotions to your friends with words? Exhausted by the two and sometimes three keys you have to press to enter an emoticon? The Google Talk Gadget has got your back. Today we're introducing an emoticon menu to put those :D and :-( feelings right at your fingertips. We've also heard you asking for a wider emoticon selection, so we added some new choices. You can choose from three different styles of emoticons. Maybe you like things simple and classic. Maybe you like them colorful and fun. Or maybe you're a square," Jake Knapp, User Interface Designer, said today.

First of all, you should know that this pack of emoticons is not compatible with the stand-alone instant messaging client because it is built for the Google Talk Gadget introduced a long time ago. The gadget can be implemented into several services powered by Google. For example, you can add the Google Talk Gadget into your iGoogle page, the ex-Google Personalized Homepage, allowing you to chat straight from your customized website. If you want to add this tiny tool to your page, you can use this link.
