Retro all the way, but with an iPod

All those who thought that the good old days of the ghettoblaster cassette players were over should quickly reconsider their opinions and prepare for the new sonic assault: the iPod Boombox![admark=1]

Things are pretty much the same like they used to be some 20-30 years ago: big, bulky pieces of audio gear, meant to be carried on the shoulder and to pump out serious volume for a neat party in the neighborhood. In case you feel like bringing those times back, the iPod Boombox is the right choice for you, at least if you're looking for a stylish and authentic comeback.

As it was back in the 70's and the 80's, bigger was always better: the iPod Boombox is no small toy, but is comes with all the classic feature you'd expect from such a blaster (and even more). This huge sound machine is in fact a neat mixture of retro looks and modern Hi-Fi technology, packing in more features than a hipster could have ever imagined 25 years ago.

The iPod Boombox comes with a classic spring-loaded door which grants you access to the iPod docking system, capable to house Minis and Nanos, thanks to the supplied adapter. The iPod Boombox will of course charge your player like any serious dock would, so you'll be ready to go the moment you decide to stop fooling around. The boombox comes with SD/MMC card slot and USB host for MP3 playback; even more, you get a backpanel AV output for the video iPods!

As for the rest, you also get a 40-preset AM/FM radio tuner with RDS capability, a clock alarm with sleep function, real-time clock display, volume meter and a neat and useful separate bass/treble EQ with pushbutton operation. AUX and mic inputs are also preset, together with the headphone jack: and if you feel like having fun the karaoke way, you also get separate volume and echo controls for the microphone. A full-function remote control is included in the box as well; yet, if you want to carry the iPod Boombox on your shoulder you just have to add 10 D-size batteries.

This radically-retro contraption retails for $220 in various online outlets.
