It is colored black and yellow and uses a 12-phase VRM

Last week, I wrote about a certain mainboard that ASRock was preparing but hadn't yet introduced to the public. Well, it seems some pictures of the thing have now come out.

Called ASRock X99 OC Formula, it has one of the strongest CPU VRMs ever created. Sure, we've heard of 12-phase VRMs before, but rarely, if ever, do mainboards claim to possess the ability to push 1,300W into the central processing unit.

It goes to show just how overclockable the Intel Core i7 5960X is, although you'll have to use a lot of liquid nitrogen or liquid helium to keep heat down while you perform an OC session. Otherwise it will just go up in flames and smoke.

The DRAM DDR4 slots also have a VRM, with 4 phases, allowing you to overclock them to 4 GHz if you're feeling adventurous.

That said, the specifications of the board can be gleamed from a close-up look. In addition to eight DDR4 slots, there are four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16/x8/x16/x8), an mPCI Express 2.0 x 1slot for Wi-Fi cards, an Ultra M.2 slot, a normal M.2 slot, and ten SATA 6.0 Gbps ports.

Ten USB 3.0 connectors are available as well, along with dual-BIOS and 8-channel HD audio and a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Finally, various OC features are included on the ASRock X99 OC Formula (PCIe power gating, rear-panel CMOS-reset / boot-to-BIOS switches, POST LED readouts, onboard power, reset, and clock/voltage tuning buttons), with many controllable from the UEFI BIOS.
