Hotel Dusk: Room 215 was released by Nintendo and Cing back in 2007 on the DS and, with the quality it offered, the game earned itself a sequel. The title will be ready on January 14 in Japan for ¥4,800, but there is no date set yet for an American release. The sequel, Last Window, will pick the story one year later from where Room 215 left off, on December 18, 1980, a day that proves to be most unfortunate for the protagonist, Kyle Hyde. Woken up to the aggravating sound of his pager, he stumbles to the closest public phone only to find out not only that he's been fired from Red Crown, but also that he's being evicted from his home.

With Fate setting up the disaster, it's up to the player to pick up the pieces and get Hyde back on track the only way a proper detective knows how, by finding a new case and the solution to it. While a new case does come in no time at all, it might bring more than Kyle is willing to carry. An anonymous letter delivered to him informs him that the author of the letter is in search of the “Red Star,” a mysterious object.

The search leads him to a broken-down building, Cape West, that's scheduled to be demolished, so he has no time to dilly-dally around and needs to make haste with his investigation. As he investigates the building, as well as this mysterious “Red Star,” more and more things seem to point towards a connection with his father's death, another unsolved enigma.

The game will play out mostly just like Hotel Dusk: Room 215 did, exploring the environment in a 3D perspective from the first-person point of view, talking to the people you come across and questioning them for further clues, as well as solving puzzles. These conversations won't all go as smoothly as you might think, and you need to be very careful about the questions you ask. Too many wrong questions and too many people annoyed, and you'll find yourself thrown out of Cape West. A new feature to the sequel is a novel that shares the game's title. As you progress through the game, more pages are unlocked and additional information regarding Kyle and the rest of the characters is unveiled.
