Estranged husband to argue that her success is due mostly to him

Less than two years after saying her “I Do” to former video assistant Blake Fielder-Civil, Amy Winehouse is faced with the possibility of losing to him almost half of her estimated £10 million estate. As the divorce proceedings are moving along, it seems that Civil will be using an older letter from Amy to show that her success is due to him, which would entitle him to half her money despite no prenup between the two being in place, News of the World is reporting.

The British tabloid has got a close look at one of Amy’s letters that she sent to Blake, in which she gushed not only about the love she felt for him, but that also credited him as being her “muse.” Moreover, the tab says, Amy even promises her “Blake incarcerated,” as she used to call him not long ago, that all her future records will be based on their relationship. This comes in the context in which speculation has it that her “Back to Black” hit album is based on the troubles the two had in the early stages of their affair.

“So I’m thinking how about I WRITE you a few albums instead,” Amy writes in the love letter. This, News of the World is saying, could be used by Blake’s attorneys to argue that he was instrumental in her success, therefore in the right to claim part of her estate, despite the fact that they got married in a rush and did not sign a prenuptial contract.

“Amy’s been incredibly cruel with her comments. It was so unnecessary. This love letter completely contradicts what she’s been saying. It will be an important part of his divorce case.” Blake’s mother, and also the one who took the letter to the tabloid, says. The comments she’s referring to are some of Amy’s previous talks with the media, in which she claimed to have forgotten all about her estranged husband of whom she said was nothing but a bad influence on her.

News of the World has also spoken to a legal expert to see if Blake’s claims will hold water in court and, strangely, he says that they will, should he decide to use the letter accordingly. “The letter could prove pivotal as it proves how important Blake was to Amy’s career. By the time the case gets to court, Amy could be worth as much as £12 million (approx US $16.5 million), and realistically Blake could end up with a quarter of that.” the expert maintains.
