Amp'd Mobile company for mobile entertainment proudly announced the launching of a new wireless data service in Canada. The new system is mainly based on QUALCOMM' s BREW solution and is available exclusively to Canadian subscribers.

BREW stands for Binary Runtime Environment and it is a software application development platform created by Qualcomm for mobile phones. It supports GSM/GPRS, UMTS, and CDMA as it?s air interface independent. The BREW solution is created to function between the application and the wireless device's chip operating system, and the programmer doesn't need a code for system interface to develop applications.

"3D games, music, streaming video and other rich multimedia services that push the boundaries of what is possible on today's high-speed wireless networks are at the heart of the Amp'd Live offering, and BREW has been a major factor in helping us capitalize on it. We are excited to bring our services to Canada and look forward to working with QUALCOMM and TELUS to create the best possible mobile entertainment experience for Canada's wireless consumer.?stated Mike McSherry, senior vice president, emerging technologies at Amp'd Mobile.

The company's main targets are youth and mostly young professionals as it offers the well-known traditional services in a highly attractive package. They can enjoy live streaming sports in their free time without high expenses. They can watch favorite videos or concerts live on the mobile phone.

The Amp'd Mobile company is well-known for its partnership with major entertainment companies like MTVN and Universal Music Group. Anyone can enjoy various channels that offer music, videos, gaming and a lot of entertainment. Video game addicts can play 3D games directly on their mobile phone.

The main advantage of BREW application is that it uses Object-oriented programming, Graphics tricks are easier, especially with BREW 2.0 and direct access to the screen buffer.

One of the disadvantages is the fact that the BREW is not very resistant to crashing comparing to similar systems like J2ME and also the profilers for C/C++ are quite expensive.

BREW is mainly used in the U.S. and Japan so the Canadian launching is really a premiere in the company portfolio.
