The Federal Communications Commission has been rather busy recently, and among other phones, it has also approved one of Chinese company Amoi Electronics' products, the V870.

While Amoi is not very renowned on the mobile phone market, it does come up with some pretty nice handsets from time to time. Such is the case with this sleek clamshell that aside from looking good, it also brings several interesting and very useful features.

Reportedly, Amoi V870 is a dual-mode handset, working on both CDMA and GSM networks. Since GPS is highly popular in Asia, Amoi has also included a sGPS module in this cell phone.

Its spec sheet includes CDMA2000 1x EVDO 800/1900 MHz, GPRS/GSM 900/1800 MH, a main 2 inch 262k color screen with a 176 x 220 pixel resolution, external 96 x 96 pixels 65k color CTSN display, 1.3 megapixel camera with LED backlight and Bluetooth for connectivity.

The V870 can also be used for listening to music or video playback as it includes a media player with support for MIDI, MP3, QCP, WAV, MMF, AMR, iMelody, WMA audio files and MP4, 3GP, AMC, 3G2, PMD, WMV video files.

Its internal memory of 90MB is decent for storing several tracks, while more serious music fans will be able to store many more songs on a supported MicroSD memory card.

Also including the basic wap browser, java games and audio/video streaming, the handset measures around 92.5 x 49.5 x 18.7 mm and weighs 104 grams. There is no information on when and where someone will be able to find this phone for sale. Its price is also unknown for the time being.
