Despite being fans of hybrid and electric vehicles, people in the United States are not exactly ready and willing to buy one such eco-friendly car, a recent nationwide survey has shown.

Hybrid Cars tells us that, as part of this survey, 1,084 American consumers were asked to complete an online questionnaire.

34% of the people who took part in this study were found to be "favorable" to hybrid and electric vehicles, whereas 33% were found to be "very favorable" to these green means of transportation.

What's interesting is that, despite liking hybrid and electric cars as much as they do, folks in the United States do not seem all that interested in purchasing one.

Thus, the same source tells us that, for the time being, hybrid passenger cars constitute merely 4% of the country's vehicles market, and that, taken together, plug-in hybrids and all-electric four-wheelers constitute some 1% of said market.

The survey did not examine the reasons why people in the United States choose not to buy eco-friendly cars despite liking them as much as they do.

Specialists speculate that financial considerations and a lack of knowledge concerning how they work and what benefits they bring are to blame.
