Despite the changes to the panel, the show is still bleeding viewers

American Idol seemed on the path to success before the new season started, what with all that talk about a possible feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, two of the judges on the panel, but ratings continue to decline.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the latest American Idol show marked an all-time low for Fox.

“With usage among adults 18-49 down, week to week, and no series posting any growth across the broadcast networks, Thursday night proved a particular downer for American Idol,” the trade publication says.

“Following Wednesday's performance show low, American Idol (2.7 adults) was down two tenths of a point from last Thursday for its lowest demo score to date. The hour is obviously subject to adjustment when final ratings are available,” the same media outlet dates.

With so many televised competitions of the same kind on air (X Factor and The Voice are two of the biggest that come to mind), and declining ratings overall, do you think the end for this type of talent search shows could be in sight?
