Amber Portwood rose to fame thanks to MTV’s “Teen Mom” reality series, which focuses on young (teen) women who become pregnant with their first child. Now that she faces time in prison for beating up her fiancé, she says she wishes she’d never done the show.

As we also noted on several previous occasions, Portwood has been charged with domestic violence against her former fiancé and the father of her daughter, Gary Shirley.

In her first interview after she was freed from prison (where she didn’t spend but a night), Amber says she’s come to regret the decision of doing the MTV show because she’s now risking losing her freedom and her daughter.

Not only that but, if she hadn’t done the show, authorities wouldn’t have charged her with abuse, for the simple reason that no one would have known about it, one of her relatives chimes in.

“I just can’t even imagine not seeing my little baby if I go back to jail. It scares me so bad,” Portwood told Life & Style the moment she stepped out of prison and was a free woman again, though probably not for long.

If she’s found guilty of the charges brought up against her, Portwood could go back to prison for 3 years and have to pay a fine of $10,000, which is making her seriously reconsider her initial decision of doing the MTV show, writes the mag.

“In fact, she admits that having her dirty laundry air on TV has for all intents and purposes ruined her life,” Life & Style writes in an online preview of the issue.

“I wouldn’t have been in jail because nobody would have known about it,” she tells the mag. She’s not the only one to see things this way, either, because her family agrees.

“Before that scene of her hitting Gary aired, she didn’t have problems. I can’t say completely that it’s the show’s fault because obviously my sister did it,” her brother says for the same publication.

“But Amber and Gary asked them not to air the fight because they knew this legal stuff would happen. Now my sister gets death threats, and my niece’s life is in turmoil,” Amber’s brother adds.

Because of how the show ruined her life, Amber is reportedly thinking about leaving it – and forget about the $280,000 a year she makes off it as well.
