Its e-book store will more easily reach people from that nation as well

Amazon has only recently entered the e-book market from China, but that was enough to completely upturn the ecosystem as it were.

As it turns out, Amazon is a heavyweight name there already, and companies like China-based Hanvon, which sell their own e-readers there, are worried that their market shares are in danger. Which, truth be told, they are.

On the flip side, they aren't exactly resentful of Amazon's entry into their yard.

According to a report from Digitimes, they actually hope that the Kindle will stimulate the Chinese e-book reader market as a whole. Being marginalized by tablets hasn't worked well for the gadgets so far.

The rumor sprung from so-called sources from the upstream supply chain.

The main Chinese e-reader player besides Hanvon is a company called Dangdang. Its opinions are more or less the same, apparently.
