Amazon made quite a splash with the launch of its new Kindle line, which includes the Fire tablet. But, unfortunately, most of those devices are available in the US, well, they will be once they start shipping.

The Kindle Fire tablet will be an US exclusive device and, for now the Touch Kindles are only available, on preorder, in the New World.

But Amazon has started releasing the simple, fourth generation Kindle, across Europe. It's already been available in the UK and in Germany.

But those countries already had the Kindle Store and previous generation Kindles on sale.

Amazon though is expanding in places it hasn't been selling the Kindle yet, namely France, where the new French Kindle Store has just been launched. The regular Amazon Kindle will also start shipping on October 14.

"French customers are passionate about books and reading, and just as we’ve seen in the US, UK and Germany, we believe they will love reading on Kindle," said Greg Greeley, vice president, Amazon European Retail.

"We are excited to bring our first French-language Kindle and our new Kindle store to millions of Amazon.fr customers," he added.

"We kept everything readers love about Kindle—the electronic ink display that reads like real paper, with no glare, even in bright daylight, the convenience of downloading books in less than 60 seconds and Kindle’s ability to disappear in your hands so you can get lost in the author’s words—and made it lighter, smaller, faster, and more affordable than ever," he touted the abilities of the new Kindle.

The French Kindle Store debuts with 35,000 French language books and over 4,000 French classics. Of course, users will also have access to the 825,000 titles available in English and other languages.

The Amazon Kindle will sell for 99€ in France, same as in Germany. It sells for £89.00 in the UK and for $109 in the US, where it's also available for $79 if you don't mind ads.
