Turns out all the special software can be installed on any Android device

Those thinking there wasn't much overlap between the Amazon Kindle Fire and other Android tablets would be wrong, as Kevin Tofel just proved, by basically transferring the software around.

Simply put, the man moved the User Interface from Amazon's tablet to the original Galaxy Tab.

That means that he only discarded (well, not discarded, since he gave the Fire to his wife) the hardware while keeping the software and everything that comes with it.

The Galaxy Tab can now read e-books and magazines, plus rent or stream movies from Amazon.

The App Store application was installed just fine too, though the Silk browser doesn't work.

Fortunately, the Dolphin HD web browser operates well, and it's more widely available to boot.

Granted, the whole procedure isn't without its flaws: the slate crashes now, from time to time, and the icon images and fonts are oversized.
