Amazon.com, Inc. has just announced the launch of a new service for users of Android-based devices, namely the Amazon Cloud Player for Android.

Through the new service, any Android phone can enjoy access to music that has been securely sorted in the cloud, the leading retailer announced.

The new launch is complemented by the availability of Amazon Cloud Drive and Amazon Cloud Player for Web.

“The launch of Cloud Drive, Cloud Player for Web and Cloud Player for Android eliminates the need for constant software updates as well as the use of thumb drives and cables to move and manage music,” Bill Carr, vice president of Movies and Music at Amazon, stated.

“Now, whether at work, home, or on the go, customers can buy music from Amazon MP3, store it in the cloud and play it anywhere.”

The Cloud Player for Android has been bundled within the Amazon MP3 App, the retailer announced. The app would come with the full Amazon MP3 Store, as well as with the mobile version of Cloud Player.

Through this software, users can easily play music that has been stored on their Cloud Drive, as well as songs that are present on the device.

Among the main features of the Amazon Cloud Player for Android, we can count the possibility to search music by artist, album or song. Users can browse music, create playlists and download music from Cloud Drive.

The software is complemented by the aforementioned Cloud Drive, through which each user would receive 5 GB of Cloud Drive storage. This would allow users easily upload their digital music library.

While this is the standard amount of storage space that users receive, they would have it upgraded to 20 GB upon the purchase of an Amazon MP3 album.

New Amazon MP3 purchases that are stored to Cloud Drive do not count against the storage limit, but are stored for free. More on this offering can be found at Amazon here.
