Amazon has recently rolled out an improved version of its entry level tablet, the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD. At the same event, the tech giant unveiled its latest tablet offering, the Kindle Fire HDX which featured some ground breaking new additions.

Going back to the entry level model, launched in September, Amazon is expecting an impressive wave of demand in the months of October and November, so it has taken precautions in order to be able to meet all requests.

According to sources familiar with the matter reported by DigiTimes, the tech company has placed an order with Taiwan ODMs for one million 7-inch Kindle Fire HD units a month, to cover the period outlined above.

The new Kindle Fire HD features Amazon’s revamped operating system, the Fire OS 3.0 plus a faster 1.5GHz processor. On the bad side of things, Amazon has dropped the camera, microphone and HDMI-out port, with this new model.

The company is expecting the shipping frenzy to start, as it has priced the slate very aggressively. The 8GB model costs $139 / €102, while the 16GB one is $169 / €125.
