Amazon is moving more and more towards the daily deals model. It has now debuted a Kindle Daily Deal feature which showcases one title at a discounted price every day. So far, Amazon has been featuring fairly popular titles, sometimes more than three times cheaper than their regular price.

"Each day we're unveiling a new Kindle book at a specially discounted price. Check back daily to see what's next. Deals go live at approximately 12:00 A.M., Pacific time," Amazon explains on the dedicated page.

The model is simple, especially since it's limited to the Kindle store. Users can buy a discounted book each day.

The first offer was The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate Dicamillo. The book was offered for $1.39 as part of the deal, compared to $6.99, its regular price.

Currently, Amazon is offering Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, a book that's been turned into a movie quite recently. It's priced at $4.00, down from $6.99.

Amazon as a whole is adopting the daily deals model wholeheartedly. It started last year with the acquisition of Woot, a fairly popular daily deals site. But that was only a first taste.

Since then, of course, Groupon happened, and everyone and their dog started doing daily deals. Amazon is an investor in LivingSocial, Groupon's largest competitor.

But Amazon also has a Groupon clone of its own, Amazon Local, which offers discounts at various local businesses. Amazon has been quiet about it, but it's expanding to more and more cities.

However, Amazon Local does come with a twist, since it aggregates offers from other companies, mostly from LivingSocial for now. Amazon's main advantage is the site of course, it will start integrating these daily deals into its main site somehow, potentially bringing in a lot of people.
