Amazon really wants you to love your Kindle Fire. As of today the online retail giant is awarding £4 / $6 / €5 to Kindle Fire owners based in the UK, as part of its Coin scheme.

What this means is that the money can be turned into Amazon Coins and then be used to buy apps, games and other in-app goodies from the Amazon.co.uk app store, reports Pocket-Lint.

The scheme is already available in the US, but to celebrate the UK launch, Amazon is awarding old and new Kindle Fire owners 400 Coins. Those who have ordered the Kindle Fire HDX will receive their “pot of gold” when the tablet is delivered.

VP of Apps and Games for Amazon Mike George announced the promotion, saying “Today we are giving Kindle Fire owners £4 / $6 / €5 worth of Coins to spend on new apps and games, such as Candy Crush Saga and Angry Birds Star Wars.”

“And with discounts of up to 10 percent when you buy Coins in bulk, this is a great way for customers to save money when they buy apps, games and in-app items.”

“We will continue to add more ways to earn and spend Coins on a wider range of content and activities.”

So there you have it, the more coins you buy, the more discounts you get. Users can save up to 10% when purchasing apps and games if they decide to turn their physical currency into gold.

Back in May the same scheme was announced in the US, awarding Kindle Fire users 500 coins (translated into about $5 / €4) and allowing them to get content at cheaper rates.

The tech company also mentioned it was offering another way for app developers to “drive traffic, downloads and increase monetization.” And just like before app developers will be awarded their 70% share through the Coins program.
